The Architecture of Trust

In the early stages of a company, the focus is on building and finding product-market fit. You are proving the concept, securing initial partnerships and integrations, and establishing the foundation. Eventually, an organization moves out of this phase and begins growing; the mandate changes.
As the Chief Operating Officer at Onramp, I view this transition through the lens of operational maturity. It’s not enough to simply offer a secure solution; we must deliver a product that scales, eliminates unnecessary friction, and inspires complete confidence. This journey requires more than just technological maturation; it also requires scaling people, processes, and culture to exceed our clients' expectations and support new adopters in their bitcoin journey.
Building for the long-term security of the most important asset of the 21st century requires patience, a commitment to our clients, and innovative thinking to solve existing and emerging problems. At Onramp, we aren't a "wrapper" for legacy custodians or their infrastructure. We don't rely on third-party infrastructure to manage our vaults; we have architected and built our own underlying infrastructure from the ground up to create, manage, and secure Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) vaults.
As bitcoin adoption continues, the bitcoin custody experience needs to evolve to make serious bitcoin ownership accessible and less stressful. Over the last year, we’ve continued to listen closely to our clients, and what you see here is just the beginning of our commitment to meeting them where they are today, earning their trust, and building for the future.
The Onboarding Breakthrough
One of our most significant engineering and operational achievements is our Self-Service Onboarding. In minutes, clients can complete onboarding, access their dashboard, and deposit funds into their MIC vault, where three private keys are distributed across separate trusted institutions.
In the past, gaining access to custody solutions like this required weeks of onboarding and was a "white-glove" service reserved for high-net-worth individuals and institutions.

We have successfully automated the complex workflows of compliance and multi-sig vault creation, effectively removing the gatekeepers. Today, an individual can move from a single-custodian solution, which carries significant counterparty risk, to the most secure bitcoin custody solution in minutes.
There is no "lite" version of Onramp; whether you are securing your first bitcoin allocation or managing a multimillion-dollar corporate treasury, the 2-of-3 MIC security model is now truly inclusive and accessible to everyone.
The Dashboard Redesign
A trust-inspiring user experience isn't just cosmetic; it is a critical component of security. Our recent dashboard redesign enhances security by providing clearer visibility into vault status and account controls, reducing human error and increasing user confidence in managing their bitcoin holdings.

The new dashboard minimizes the noise and anxiety often associated with managing meaningful bitcoin allocations. Here are some of the specific enhancements in the new dashboard:
- Clearer visibility into your holdings: Your total balance and historical performance are now easier to read and interpret over time.
- Better organization at the vault level: Vault details, addresses, signers, recovery information, and UTXOs now live in one place, so you’re never hunting for context.
- Faster access to the correct information: Fewer clicks, less friction, and a layout that reflects how clients actually use the product.
- More confidence in day-to-day decisions: The dashboard now reflects the level of care and precision behind your custody setup.
Our goal was simple: make it easier for clients to understand MIC, manage their accounts, and act with total confidence in their custody solution.
Vault Configuration Files
Even in the MIC model, the user should have access to the information they need to remain confident that their bitcoin is secure. To that end, we’ve enabled clients to download their Vault Configuration Files directly from the dashboard, while each institution's private keys remain safe.

This enhancement allows users to export their MIC vault information and import it into third-party open-source tools, including Sparrow, Caravan, and Electrum. While Onramp manages the complexity of configuring and maintaining the multi-institution vaults, we provide users with tools to verify their balances independently or to create unsigned transactions for use in a vault recovery scenario.
While we appreciate that this feature won’t be used by every client, enabling clients to download Vault Configuration Files directly from the dashboard promotes transparency. It allows users to independently verify their bitcoin security, reinforcing trust in our solution.
Maturing the Organization
Scaling an organization requires maturing people, processes, and technology. As Onramp’s client base and product offering continue to grow, our team is expanding as well. For this reason, Onramp is thrilled to have recently welcomed our new VP of Engineering, Jacob Ditslear, whose leadership will be pivotal as we expand our roadmap and continue to ship innovative features.
Onramp is also officially announcing our commitment to the highest standards of operational accountability by beginning our path toward SOC 2 certification. Undertaking this process demonstrates our commitment to our clients and partners that our internal controls and security practices are designed and maintained for the long term.
The Evolving Threat Landscape
Onramp’s product roadmap includes features not only to improve our clients' experience in the application but also to mitigate evolving threats proactively. As bitcoin’s value and adoption increase, the number of physical and AI-generated deepfake attacks targeting bitcoin owners requires a security approach that goes beyond traditional digital safeguards.
For physical attack mitigation, Onramp's Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) can play a critical role in developing a comprehensive bitcoin security strategy. The distribution of private keys across multiple independent institutions fundamentally alters the risk-reward calculus for attackers, making physical coercion increasingly difficult and significantly reducing the likelihood of a successful attack.
The recent implementation of liveliness checks in our withdrawal flow to combat AI-generated deepfakes is an excellent example of our product and engineering teams proactively implementing security measures to mitigate evolving threats.
These are just a few examples of how Onramp will continue to provide its clients with a comprehensive, layered defense strategy and support, emphasizing continuous vigilance and adaptation.
A Platform for Generational Wealth
The vision for generational wealth through bitcoin requires solutions built to last, not assembled from temporary parts. At Onramp, our commitment is to the highest standards of security, operations, and reliability, delivered through our infrastructure, teams, and hard work. This is more than a product; it is a long-term investment in our clients' financial future, affirming the unwavering trust they place in our platform.
