Version 2.0 · Last updated October 7, 2026

We have included annotations in italics to highlight certain portions of this Policy. They are not summaries, so please read the full Policy.

By using Onramp, you agree to this Policy. If you use Onramp on behalf of a company or other entity, that entity agrees to it too.

The Onramp Terms of Service (available here) govern Client’s use of the Services, this Acceptable Use Policy (the “Policy”), and any other terms, policies and guidelines applicable to the Services. This Policy is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Onramp may modify this Policy by posting a revised version on onrampbitcoin.com, and Client’s continued use of the Services after a revised version is posted constitutes acceptance of it. Capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meanings given to them in the Terms of Service.

Prohibited Activities

To keep the Platform and Onramp’s Multi-Institution Custody solution safe for every client, we do not allow illegal, fraudulent or harmful activity.
Client may not use, facilitate the use of, or allow others to use the Services to engage in any of the following activities (“Prohibited Activities”). The examples below are representative, not exhaustive.

Illegal activity

Any activity that violates any applicable law, statute, ordinance, regulation or court order, or that is criminal or tortious, including the purchase or sale of illegal goods or services, controlled substances or child sexual abuse material, and any transaction involving the proceeds of crime.

Money laundering, terrorist financing and structuring

Any activity that involves, or is intended to conceal or disguise, the proceeds of unlawful activity; that finances or supports terrorism; or that evades or attempts to evade anti-money laundering laws, including the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act. This includes structuring transactions to avoid any reporting or recordkeeping requirement or any limit or control Onramp applies.

Sanctions

Any activity that may violate regulations administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (31 C.F.R. Parts 500–599) or any other applicable sanctions authority, including providing or receiving Services to, from or for the benefit of any person, entity or jurisdiction that is the target of sanctions. Client may not access the Services from, or on behalf of any person located in, a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction or any other jurisdiction where Onramp does not offer the Services, and may not use a virtual private network, proxy or any other means to disguise Client’s location.
If Onramp determines that Client is in apparent violation of these restrictions, Onramp may suspend or terminate Client’s access to the Services, and Client’s assets may be blocked, frozen or rejected by Onramp, its Key Partners or other regulated parties as required by applicable law.

Illicit counterparties

Sending bitcoin to, or receiving bitcoin from, darknet markets, mixing or tumbling services, ransomware operators, scams or any other service or address associated with illicit activity.

Third-party and nominee use

Using the Services on behalf of, or for the benefit of, any person other than Client or the entity Client is authorized to represent, including acting as a nominee or straw account holder, or using the Services to transmit money or value for third parties.

Fraud and false information

Defrauding or attempting to defraud Onramp, its clients, its Key Partners or any other person, or providing false, inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information to Onramp, including during identity verification or in response to any request for information.

Use by minors

Allowing any individual who is under 18 years of age, or under the age of majority in that individual’s state or jurisdiction of residence, to use the Services.

Hacking and malicious activity

(i) Imposing an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on Onramp’s infrastructure, or interfering with, intercepting or expropriating any system, data or information; (ii) transmitting or uploading any virus, trojan horse, worm or other harmful code; (iii) attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Services, another client’s account or bitcoin, or any computer system or network connected to the Services, by password mining, credential stuffing or any other means; (iv) accessing or using the Services with another person’s credentials or information, or transferring Client’s access to or rights in the Services to any third party, except by operation of law or with Onramp’s prior written consent; or (v) harvesting or collecting information about other clients or users without their consent.

Automated access and AI tools

Using AI tools, bots, scrapers, crawlers or other automated systems to access, scrape or interact with the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Onramp, or inputting Onramp’s proprietary or confidential information into third-party AI systems without Onramp’s prior written consent.

Infringement and unauthorized use of Onramp’s intellectual property

(i) Infringing or violating any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy, or other proprietary right; (ii) copying, reproducing, distributing, publicly displaying, modifying or creating derivative works from Onramp’s intellectual property or any website or page carrying the “Onramp” name, other than for page caching or as Onramp permits in writing; or (iii) implying any endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation with Onramp that does not exist.

Breach of the Terms of Service

Any activity that breaches the Terms of Service or any agreement incorporated into it by reference.

Actions Onramp May Take

If you do not follow this Policy, we may restrict or close your account and share information about you and your activity with law enforcement and regulators.

Onramp has no obligation to monitor the Services for violations of this Policy, but may do so. Onramp may, in its sole discretion and without notice, take any action it considers appropriate in response to an actual or suspected violation, including suspending or restricting Client’s access to the Services, declining or delaying any transaction, requiring Client to provide additional information, or terminating Client’s Account in accordance with the Terms of Service.
Onramp may investigate any suspected violation of this Policy and may remove or disable access to any content or resources that violate it. Client agrees to cooperate with any such investigation and to help remedy any violation.
Onramp may share information about Client, Client’s use of the Services and Client’s transactions with law enforcement, regulators, Key Partners and other authorities where Onramp reasonably believes doing so is required or permitted by applicable law or legal process, or where Onramp reasonably suspects that the Services have been used for an unauthorized, illegal or criminal purpose.
