In January 2019 I began writing Why Buy Bitcoin. The dollar price of bitcoin was $3.2k, which represented an 84% drop from its recent high of $19.6k. Most financial advisors thought bitcoin was dead. But I saw the investment opportunity of a lifetime. When the book was published 8 months later, the dollar price of bitcoin had risen to $8.5k, but financial advisors were still nowhere to be found.

To realize my vision of financial advisors helping their clients invest in bitcoin, I joined a bitcoin company and built a service to allow financial advisors to buy actual bitcoin for their clients. But after launching successfully, that service suffered from both the failure of its custodian and apathy among financial advisors during the bitcoin bear market of 2022.

Fast forward to today and, to my knowledge, Why Buy Bitcoin is still the only bitcoin investment book written by a financial advisor. Nevertheless, its thesis is more relevant than ever. Moreover, the bitcoin industry has yet to deliver the right solution for financial advisors and their clients to obtain exposure to this asset.

Bitcoin’s current dollar price is $36.5k, representing a roughly $700B asset that has organically monetized from zero in just 15 years. While the significance of this feat should not be understated, bitcoin has only realized a fraction of its long-term potential, especially for financial advisors and their clients.
